1. The Kia Rio Sedan
The Kia brand is a loved one due to its compact and stylish line of cars. Many people love these cars due to their intuitive build as well as easily maneuverability. That said, the Kia 4-Door takes the top spot on our list of dangerous cars. The reason is that this car is alleged to have the highest rates of driver deaths, recording a whopping 149 deaths out of every 1 million vehicles registered between the years 2009 and 2012. This partially has to do with its lightweight build, which can put it at a higher risk for rollover accidents.
2. The Nissan Versa Hatchback
This four-door hatchback is popular among families who want to keep their costs low. Unfortunately, Nissan has been hit with a class action lawsuit over the Versa’s suspension systems, which can compromise steering integrity, effectively making the car difficult to steer while driving or maneuvering corners.
3. Hyundai Accent Four-Door

This car was recently in the headlines when its makers were accused of willful manslaughter owing to design defects that were overlooked before it was rolled out to the public for sale. The Chevy Aveo failed crash safety standards in Mexico, and GM issued a recall notice back in 2014 asking millions of car owners to send their Chevy Aveos back for inspection and possible replacement of the daytime running light module (which was shown to overheat), leading to melting and fire eruption after some time. The Aveo is also notorious for engine overheating problems.
5. Chevrolet Camaro
General Motors is once again under fire when reports came out this year alleging that it hid the fact that airbags on one of its best-selling cars, the Chevy Camaro, did not work as expected. It is alleged that the front and passenger-side airbags don’t always deploy in the event of an accident, putting occupants in harm’s way. This is attributed to a malfunctioning sensor which needs replacement costing upwards of $700.
In addition, a number of Camaro owners decided to take GM to court when it emerged that their cars came with a defective ignition switch which has the potential to cut off power to the car and engine while driving, resulting in catastrophic accidents. This ignition switch problem is said to affect models from 2010 all the way to 2014.
